We are pleased to inform you about a charity project for the benefit of Japanese victims of Tohoku earthquake that our Society has just organized.

Throughout the process leading to the conclusion of the event, we faced three challenges. First, identifying the right format and the right artists, second, securing the right venue, and the third, finding an effective way to help the victims of the earthquake.

We managed to meet them all. It was truly miraculous and surely because the cause is right! Despite the Esplanade booked solid till August, we managed to squeezed out a window in May and are now pleased to confirm the concert will take place at the Esplanade’s Recital Studio. Best venue and best acoustics in town! The performance is scheduled for May 20 at 7 PM. Doors open at 6:30PM.

The theme we decided on is ”The Black Rainbow-Children of Music for Children of Japan” and the concert will feature the sensational Prize Winners of the First International Chopin Piano Competition Singapore 2011 who enthusiastically agreed to join the cause.

We researched how to find the best way to help the victims and identified an organization that specifically supports orphans and children who suffered during and in the aftermath of the Japanese earthquake, tsunami and the radiation of Fukushima Power Plant. Thanks to the help of Fukushima Prefecture we found out about Ashinaga, an organization who provides educational and emotional support for orphans worldwide.

Ashinaga pioneered the concept of Rainbow House. Rainbow House is a day care center to provide emotional support for orphans in the aftermath of Kobe earthquake. Ashinaga plans to do the same for orphans of Tohoku earthquake, and this is going to be the main cause of our appeal. Please see http://www.ashinaga.org/en/.

Music is a wonderful remedy against despair and we felt a combination of music and emotional healing is just excellent.

Please help us to spread the word about the concert through your network to encourage others to support this truly worthwhile cause. What we do for the lives of others will translate into the lives of our own!
